Bart Scott dropped by CBS Sports Radio to discuss numerous NFL topics, including PEDS. Specifically, Scott was asked how prevalent they are in the league.

“I think they’re pretty prevalent,” Scott told Damon Amendolara, who was filling in as host of The Jim Rome Show. “I would say probably 60 percent.”

Sixty percent? Really? Then how come more guys don’t get caught? Do they know when they’ll be tested?

“Nobody knows when there’s testing,” Scott said, “but I think the NFL looks at people and they go after people who they think or they suspect. If you’re not suspected and you’re a receiver – unless you see The Body Issue – you’re not suspecting Julian Edelman.”

Edelman, of course, has been suspended for four games for violating the league’s PED policy.

But 60 percent? Really?

“I would say (doing) something,” Scott said. “I would say they’re taking something or they’re pushing the envelope. There’s guys trying to get away with Adderall prescriptions. Back in the day, right before I got out, it was Viagra.”

That’s right. Viagra.

“Have you ever taken Viagra?” Scott asked, to which DA replied no. “It’s okay, man. You don’t have to have erectile dysfunction to want to be Superman for a night. Guys were taking Viagra because it opens up the blood vessels. Marathon runners do it, too, because it opens the blood vessels and you get more oxygen so you don’t fatigue as fast.”

Scott admitted to taking Viagra before a game.

“I took it once,” said Scott, who doesn’t know if it helped. “I was on the downslope of my career anyway, so I had nothing to compare it to.”
