Clayton Kershaw left Sunday afternoon’s tilt with the Atlanta Braves early after experiencing tightness in his lower back.
The Dodgers ace was pulled just 2 2/3 innings into the game and looks like he’ll be headed for the disabled list. Kershaw missed 2 1/2 months last season with a herniated disc in his back.
It looks like Kershaw will be on the on the shelf for a month or possibly longer, according to a tweet from FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal.
The Dodgers currently sit atop the National League West, 10 1/2 games over the second place Colorado Rockies as of July 24.
With the Kershaw news, Los Angeles could now be serious contenders to get a big name starting pitcher before the July 31 trade deadline.
