Tattoo fans, lovers and curiosity seekers, it’s an exhibit to take in and wonder. Not only a tattoo exhibit, but one that’s being called an exhibit that’s been 5,000 years in the making.
CBS Los Angeles reports this fall, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is on tap to host the West Coast debut of Tattoo. It’s a special exhibition that is said to explore millennia of history, culture and art connected to inking the body.
The exhibit will feature more than 125 images and objects that range from historical artifacts to amazing intricate contemporary designs that are tattooed onto silicone models of the human body.
Reportedly, this cool exhibit will also take an interesting and much closer look at features that are specific to tattoo cultures of Southern California, from Ventura to Los Angeles to Long Beach and Orange County.
‘Tattoo’ the exhibit, was originally developed and produced by the musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac in Paris. It’s made its way through stops in Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum and Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History.
Now it’s the west coast’s chance to experience it. The exhibit debuts Nov. 19th and you can buy tickets by clicking here. I can’t wait. Having and loving tattoo’s myself, I think this will be an amazing adventure through history.
