Last month a letter carrier was almost hit by a bullet while delivering mail in a Glassell Park neighborhood. For the past few weeks, the U.S. Postal Service stopped making deliveries in the area due to the incident.

CBS Los Angeles reports that according to USPS spokesperson Evelina Ramirez, a letter carrier was out delivering mail in the 3400 block of Drew Street on June 27, when a shooting happened that caused the mail carrier to nearly get hit by a bullet.

Ramirez said that due to safety concerns in the area, the USPS suspended its mail deliveries there the following day. As the Los Angeles police continue their investigation into the incident that suspension remains in effect.

Residents that live in that area are, for the time being, having to pick their mail up from the Glassell Park Post Office. Reportedly the suspension is said to last until the investigation is complete.
