National French Fry day is today (July 12) and although we can all agree that fast food french fries are the most delicious, we can’t seem to agree on who has the best.

So today, we put an end to the debate (or we just get everybody riled up about it again).

Without further adieu, here are your best fast food french fries:

10. Wendy’s
Wendy’s does this thing where they keep little flecks of potato skin on their french fries, which if you’re a fan of, congratulations! Others, not so much. It’s nothing more than a basic fry that barely sneaks into our list.

9. Five Guys
They took home the award for best burger, but they’ve got work to do on their fries. There seems to be more oil than salt on these bad boys, which makes them extremely soggy. Not to worry though, throw some burnt ones in the bag to make up for it.

8. KFC
Technically KFC doesn’t have fries, per se, but they do have some darn good potato wedges. Seasoned perfectly and not short on flavor at all. You won’t get the crunchiness like you would with french fries, but this is one sacrifice we’ll gladly make.

7. Burger King
The King knows how to make a french fry. Yes, it may be another average french fry, but it’s not too thick, not too thin, not too salty, and nowhere near under-seasoned. Sometimes average is just what you need.

6. Carls Jr.
It looks like they’ve shifted their focus from half naked models to making their food better. These fries are very comparable to those at Burger King. These are a “safe” fry to chose. You won’t be blown away, but you won’t be disappointed.

5. In N Out
SoCal natives may be upset that these aren’t higher on the list. They’re good, not great. Sometimes they’re thick and golden enough that you get the excellent crunch factor, other times you’re eating a raw potato.

4. McDonald’s
They are the Tom Brady of french fries, you either hate them or love them. These fries are mouthwatering and are an all-time classic. The level of salt is just a tad much, but you really can’t go wrong here.

3. Del Taco
Crinkle cut fries are arguably the best type of fries out there and when you pair it with the right combination of salt and crispness, you have a top 3 french fry. Consistency is key and you’ll find it here.

2. Shake Shack
See #3.

1. Chick-Fil-A
Waffle fries are the standard and these trademark fries take the gold medal. An inflated crunch, a flavorful boost and perfect vessel for scooping up ketchup or ranch, you can’t argue that Chick-Fil-A comes in at any other spot on this list. Our pleasure.
