You may have heard that eating dark chocolate has cardiovascular benefits.

A new study recently released by Harvard researchers, says that eating a little chocolate regularly may lower the odds of getting AFib, or atrial fibrillation, which is a condition with irregular heartbeats that is linked to a higher risk for heart failure or stroke, CBS News reports.

Author Elizabeth Mostofsky, an epidemiology instructor at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is very excited about these findings because there had been little research done on atrial fibrillation and lifestyle factors.

“What we’re saying here is that moderate chocolate consumption may be part of a healthy diet,” Mostofsky told CBS News.

Don’t go overboard, however. “This is not carte blanche to eat large amounts of chocolate,” Mostofsky warns.
