Residents in an Inland Empire neighborhood were evacuated Tuesday evening because of a standoff between an armed robber and the SWAT team.

CBS Los Angeles reports at about 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, an armed robbery was reported at a Norco business located on Hamner Avenue.  Police said that the bandit took off as soon as officers arrived on scene.

Later, officers found the robber. He was in Corona hiding in a home in the area of Corydon Street and River Road.

The Riverside County Sheriff Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams arrived at the scene, where the SWAT team proceeded to surrounded the house.

Eventually in an effort to try to fish the suspect out of the house, a robot was deployed and flash grenades were fired into the house.

According to authorities, after hours and hours of negotiations they were finally able to enter the home and apprehend the man.
