Name: Natalie Koppel
Sport: Track and Field
School: Granite Hills
This week’s accomplishment: Koppel won three individual events and ran on a winning relay team at Thursday’s Desert Sky League Finals. She won the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the long jump and ran on the 4×100 relay team.
What do you like most about your sport: It taught me determination and that if you have enough heart and put in a lot of hard work, anything can be achieved.
How long have you been playing your sport and how did you get started: Since I was 5 years old. My grandfather introduced it to my mom and she introduced it to me and my siblings.
Pregame ritual: Listening to pump up music and visualizing success in every event.
Most memorable sports moment: In my first race I ran when I was 5 years old, I was tripped in the first 2 seconds and fell, but with bloody knees and forehead, I got up and finished the race.
If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be and why: I wouldn’t want to be anyone else but me. I’ve learned and achieved so much already. I wouldn’t want to give up my life to live anyone else’s, not even for a day.
Something most people don’t know about you: I’m biracial. Half African-American, half white.
How would you spend $1 million: I would donate it to Granite Hills High School to build a huge stadium with a nice football field and a beautiful, blue, all-weather track.
Where would you go if you could travel anywhere in the world: Hawaii
If you had an extra hour every day, how would you spend it: With my family and my two best friends.
What superpower do you wish you had: I wish I could fly.
