Spring brings us the best of the High Desert with community events happening all around town. Here are some things you and your family can enjoy in the month of May.
- Concerts in the Courtyard
The Town of Apple Valley presents Concerts in the Courtyard every Thursday in May from 6:00p to 8:00p starting May 4 and ending May 25th, at Apple Valley Commons on the northwest corner of Dale Evans Parkway and Highway 18.
- Car Cruises and Car Shows are popping up all around town.
May 6 Over The Hill Gang of Apple Valley will be at Cars & Cures at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park starting at 10:00a. May 12 is the Route 103-KVFG, The BCC and Rod French Cruise Night at Burgerlicious in Apple Valley starting at 5:00p. May 13 the High Desert Car Club Council has their Annual car show at The Roadhouse in Kramer Junction Highway 395 & Highway 58 starting at 10:00a. May 19 is Hot Rods and Harleys at Victorville Harley-Davidson at 4:30p and May 27 is the Ford & Mustang Annual Charity Car Show at Sunland Ford starting at 9:00a.
- Apple Valley Rockin’ Flea Market
Make someone else’s trash your treasure at the Bi-Annual Rockin’ Flea Market. Enjoy music, food, and over 60 yard sale-type vendors as they fill up Lion’s Park on Outer Highway 18 between Flathead and Dale Evans Parkway on May 13th from 8:00a to 1:00p.
- Here’s what’s happening in Barstow
May 12 is the Spring vocal concert at Barstow Community College. Concert features the college choir and the Broadway voice class starting at 7:00p. May 13 is the 50-mile Poker run starting at the Slash X Café at 8:00a. Starting May 30th the Barstow Community Hospital and Fitness M.D. 24-7 presents the “Lose to Win” challenge. Register by May 8th for this 14-week challenge to lose weight. May 14 Just Like T.H.A.T. performs 40’s and 50’s harmonies at the Barstow College PAC. Calico Ghost Town is host to Bluegrass in the Spring on Mother’s Day Weekend May 13 and 14 featuring many bluegrass and country artists.
- San Bernardino County Fair
‘The Fun Starts Here’ at the High Desert Events Center starting on May 20th and ending May 29th. You can expect great concerts, Monster Trucks, Demolition Derby, stage shows, clowns, carnival rides, carnival food, exotic animals and so much more. There’s something for everyone at an affordable price with fun for the whole family.
- The City of Hesperia
May 6th brings the Relay for Life Cars & Cures event to raise money in the fight against cancer, at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park starting Saturday at 9:00a. May 13th is ‘Chalk The Walk’ day for kids to use their imagination and creative ability to draw on the sidewalks of Hesperia Civic Plaza Park for some prizes for best artwork. May 20th brings out the Old Memories Car Show at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park.
- Family Mini Golf FUNdraiser
May 13th the Apple Valley Kiwanis Foundation presents a family mini golf day at the Scandia Fun Center to raise money for community projects. Tickets include a continental breakfast and $4 park rides discount.
- Freestyle and Old School Music Festival
The Biggest Concert to hit the High Desert happens May 13th at the High Desert Event Center on 7th Street. Gates open at 3:00p with the first concert starting at 6:00p. Open to all ages. Food and merchandise vendors on hand rain or shine.
- A Little Piece of Heaven Production
The Theater Arts Guild presents “A Little Piece of Heaven”” at the High Desert Center for the Arts, 15615 Eighth St in Victorville, May 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26 27 and 28. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30p with Sunday performances at 2:30p. Enjoy this funny production that focuses on a little corner store that helps reunite lost treasures with their owners. Cost $12.00 for seniors and children and $14.00 for adults.
