Authorities are looking for suspects who threw bricks at vehicles driving on the 215 Freeway in Perris Sunday night, leaving windshields shattered and injuring at least one driver.

The California Highway Patrol reports that several 911 calls came is just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday night. The calls stated that rocks and bricks were being thrown at moving vehicles on the northbound side of I-215 from the D Street overpass, near Nuevo Road.

According to CBS Los Angeles, CHP said that one of the 911 callers reportedly received head and facial injuries after a brick struck his windshield. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Riverside CHP Officer Dan Olivas said, “So it turned out to be bricks, like masonry-type bricks, and they were hitting the vehicles,” “Several vehicles became damaged because of it, and, like I said, one person did receive injuries from that.”

Officer Olivas went on to say, “What people may not realize is when something is thrown onto the freeway, at freeway speeds, it can become dangerous and deadly.”

CHP says the incidents are being investigated as an assault with a deadly weapon and requests that if anyone has any information on the case to call CHP at 951-637-8000.
